3 Ways to Hide Website Content

Everyone who owns a website for the business point of view has a wish to rank number one in the search results. But can it be possible to hide a website from the search? Google’s John Mueller explains it in the response of a query submitted by a user.

John Mueller explained that it is possible to prevent a website from appearing in search results. The site remains accessible over the internet.

This can be done in three ways.

  1. Password Protection
  2. Blocking Crawling
  3. Blocking indexing

Password Protection

  • It is one of the best methods to prevent the website.
  • The users can’t see the content of the website.
  • The site will not be seen by the search engines.
  • It is easy to check the working of password protection.

Blocking Crawling

  • It is another approach for a website but not an ideal approach.
  • It can be done by using robots.txt file.
  • The users can access the website.
  • The search engines can’t access the content of the website.
  • The search engine rarely can index the address of the website.

Blocking Indexing

  • The indexing of a website can be blocked by putting a “noindex” robots Meta tag.
  • The “noindex” Meta tag tells the search engine not to index that particular page.
  • The users can access the website.
