Everyone who owns a website for the business point of view has a wish to rank number one in the search results. But can it be possible to hide a website from the search? Google’s John Mueller explains it in the response of a query submitted by a user.
John Mueller explained that it is possible to prevent a website from appearing in search results. The site remains accessible over the internet.
This can be done in three ways.
- Password Protection
- Blocking Crawling
- Blocking indexing
Password Protection
- It is one of the best methods to prevent the website.
- The users can’t see the content of the website.
- The site will not be seen by the search engines.
- It is easy to check the working of password protection.
Blocking Crawling
- It is another approach for a website but not an ideal approach.
- It can be done by using robots.txt file.
- The users can access the website.
- The search engines can’t access the content of the website.
- The search engine rarely can index the address of the website.
Blocking Indexing
- The indexing of a website can be blocked by putting a “noindex” robots Meta tag.
- The “noindex” Meta tag tells the search engine not to index that particular page.
- The users can access the website.
